Using GitHub Copilot for D&D

Being a Dungeon Master requires creativity, quick thinking, and a lot of preparation. In this session, I will show how GitHub Copilot has become one of my most valuable tools for prepping and running Dungeons & Dragons games. From generating rich NPCs and fleshing out world-building details, to designing encounters, puzzles, and story hooks on the fly, Copilot can help take a lot of the heavy lifting off the DM’s shoulders. I will demonstrate how I use Copilot's completions, chat features, and the new agentic mode to brainstorm ideas, automate repetitive parts of preparation, and even assist with improvisation during sessions. This talk is not just for D&D fans — it is about using AI as a creative assistant, and how the same techniques can be applied to any kind of creative or technical work. Join me for a fun and practical exploration of how AI can be a true co-DM.
