Stephanie Dodier translates cutting-edge brain research from the fields of cognitive sciences and neuroeducation into practical strategies ready-to-be implemented. As a learning specialist, she communicates them through keynote, workshops, online courses, and blogging.

Stephanie has over fifteen years of experience teaching intermediate and secondary sciences (IB & MYP) across different Canadian provinces. As a sessional instructor at SFU and an education consultant, she works with various organizations and guides educators from all fields. Most importantly she helps other educators improve their practice and become the best version of themselves.

Stephanie also has a master’s degree in education (SFU) and a specialization in educational neuroscience (UQAM). Her theoretical knowledge and her teaching experience combined allows her to bring to the table a more holistic view of education.

Communicate your message for a lasting impression

The way we think about training (which is in fact learning!) is rooted in lore and intuition. Yet, the most effective learning strategies are counter-intuitive! Have you ever felt successful at communicating your message (in a lecture, a workshop, a meeting, ...) because everyone seemed to have understood? When we think about learning, the ease with which new concepts are understood is just part of the story. If we consider that learning is acquiring new knowledge/skills to transfer to new situations, we want the information to be readily available later. How do we ensure the information we communicate isn’t forgotten? The science of learning offers evidence-based strategies to allow us to communicate our message for long-term retention. BONUS: this will also revolutionize your own learning habits to help you maximize retention while saving time!

This is a 90min session that can be led in-person or virtually. It can be adapted to be longer or shorter depending on needs. This session can be delivered in French or English. The targeted audience is professionals.

The Science of Motivation: What Drives Learning and Engagement

What truly motivates learners—and how can we sustain that motivation over time? In this interactive session, participants will explore the latest findings from cognitive science and educational neuroscience to better understand the brain’s reward systems, intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation, and the role of autonomy, purpose, and belonging in engagement. Together, we’ll translate this research into practical, ready-to-use strategies that will help you create environments where motivation thrives and learning sticks.

This 90min session is designed to be delivered virtually or in-person. It can be adapted to be shorter or longer based on specific needs. Based on the targeted audience, this is session can be geared towards professionals or educators. This session can be delivered in French or English.

Evidence-Based Strategies to Enhance Student Learning

As a teacher, I have never been taught about High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS). I discovered them later and I was blown away by the research coming from the fields of educational neuroscience and the science of learning. Join me to learn how to implement brain-friendly principles to optimize students' learning. Make simple but powerful changes to your teaching and access a toolbox with a variety of ready-to-use retrieval practice tools and metacognition activities.

This 90min session is designed to be delivered virtually or in-person. It can be adapted to be shorter or longer based on specific needs. This session is geared towards educators of all levels. Available in French or English.

Maximize concentration in a world of fragmented attention

We live in a world where attention is increasingly fragmented, and this affects us on many levels. Even adults are starting to have trouble concentrating! Come explore how to help students learn to concentrate again. This practical workshop offers teachers concrete, scientifically based strategies for creating a motivating learning environment that develops students' ability to concentrate by promoting a state of “flow.”

This 90min session is designed to be delivered virtually or in-person. It can be adapted to be shorter or longer based on specific needs. This session is geared towards educators (but it could be easily adapted for professionals). This session can be delivered in French or English.
