To Judge A Book: Stereotype and Bias of Fatherhood
Welcome to this dynamic session designed for fatherhood practitioners, parents, and professionals who work with dads. It offers strategies to enhance positive outcomes for fathers and families. Participants will explore the biases and stereotypes fathers often face and how these perceptions impact their roles in family and society.
Session Highlights:
Step into the shoes of a participant through the Nurturing Fathers Program, a [nationally recognized program] that helps fathers develop the skills they need to be nurturing parents, experiencing the challenges and triumphs fathers navigate daily. Participate in a fun and interactive brainstorming activity to uncover innovative ways to support fathers. This hands-on approach will ensure your active involvement and engagement in the session.
Acquire practical skills, including how to read and interpret a Massachusetts Criminal Offense Record History (CORI) to better assist fathers impacted by the criminal justice system. This will empower you to make a tangible difference in the lives of fathers and families.
This session emphasizes the importance of working across various systems—education, social services, criminal justice, and more—that are meant to support families but often create barriers to father-inclusive services.
Learn directly from presenters who are fathers themselves, men who have faced adversity and transformed their experiences into opportunities to uplift thousands of other dads. Their stories, filled with resilience and hope, will inspire and equip you with tools to challenge stereotypes, break down systemic barriers, and foster environments where fathers can thrive.
Join us to reimagine fatherhood, break biases, and champion a more inclusive approach to supporting dads in all aspects of their lives.
