Security Trimming within PowerApps
A typical scenario from the field is that certain fields within PowerApps needs only be available for defined roles. In my session you will learn, how you can empower your from and add controls which will change the editing capability through Group Memberships.
In this example, we use "DisplayMode" for controls and connection Office365Groups to identify if the current user is member of a selected group. Learn how to compare and you can also display group memberships in the user interface, so that the reporting line for a user is transparent.
OneDrive mass migration made sexy
OneDrive enables users to be more productive. In order to bring OneDrive to the next Level in your Enterprise environment, you typically have existing data and private home folders (often called H:).
We'll guide you through the process to migrate your existing home folders to OneDrive taking a look at the big picture. We'll talk about pre-requisites for OneDrive and how to manage such a migration scenario in an Enterprise environment. Therefore we'll be using the free Microsoft SharePoint Migration Toolkit (SPMT), Migration Manager and tell you about Mover.
After this session you‘ll be able to migrate your files to OneDrive using this tool and ensure that you don’t accidentally blow your Internet connection at the same time. Just imagine what happens with your 20 GB PST when opening it ever morning and closing it in the afternoon.
Speakers are the famous Hans Brender (Mr. OneDrive and MVP) and Co-Speaker Dennis Hobmaier who will tell you stories from the field.

Pitfalls with Teams - About do's and dont's
This session isn't about technical stuff. It's all about relationships, colleauges, customers and just my personal expirience from my own past empleyers as well as from projects during my last eight years.
Technology is very important and that's why we're here today. But even more important are the people. From my expirience the coolest and badest technology is always sold by use cases, and yes it's actuall selling or better "Adoption". The end user must be clearly in the focus. From the private sector technology got simple to use, so why not Enterprise software?
Of course there are certain challenges, such as:
- Company strategy
- Culture
- Communication plan
- Governance
- Security
- Generations
- Working hours and locations
And get a little surprise what could fail in Homeoffice even with perfect technology such as Teams and perfect connectivity.
PowerAutomate user permission not enough?
In this session I'll explain and demonstrate how to build PowerAutomate (former "Flow") using system priviliges and item permissions.
When talking to customers, sometimes it's a need for business processes to leverage item permissions e.g. someone submits a request and should only see her/his entries and not the others created by someone else.
Therefore we will:
- Register as application
- Explain App ID und Secret
- Create and build a reusable structure
- Set item permissions on list entries
Practical examples of such workflows are user's PTO request and budget request.
Be prepared when your business users require an advanced PowerAutomate Workflow which they can't do by themselves.
Create a PowerAutomate workflow that uses system privileges to assign item permissions on list entries.
Migrate to SharePoint Online using native Tools
You’ve decided for the cloud and Office 365. Now it’s time to upload your existing data into SharePoint online. You’re suffered by migrating using Drag and Drop, maintaining folder structures is nearly impossible and last but not least you would like to keep the original “Modified” date and time?
In this track you will learn how you can use the new native Tools for Office 365 to convert existing file shares or SharePoint on-premises sources into so called Migration Packages and upload them to Windows Azure Storage. Finally, we’re starting the Migration into SharePoint Online und use these tools:
- SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT)
- Show PowerShell examples
- Explain Migration Mananger
- How Azure Storage is leveraged (temporary)
- Source Fileshare/SharePoint 2010/2013
- Define what Mover is
During the live demo you'll see how easy a migration can be. Make sure to stay until the end, as I'm sharing my scripts with you.
You’ll learn about general Migration practices like staging, communication, involved components. The live demo will show you the technical steps live using native Tools.
Office 365 brings some capabilities and tools when it comes to migration from Fileshare, SharePoint 2013 and 2016. Also learn how to use Migration Manager and Mover.
Move your Classic UI Intranet to Modern UI and Teams
This session is about a customer project which we shifted from a SharePoint / Office 365 Classic UI site to Modern UI. One of the main goals was to establish the new communication site as homepage.
Problems using the classic sites have been:
- Complicated editing for non-IT professionals (especially Marketing personal needed to change pages)
- Performance issues
- Lack of mobile device support
- UI quite old, you could say ugly
First of all we started a proof of concept together with Marketing involved. From that point it was quite easy to get the budget approved. Finally there was the last challenge - the migration.
After we've analyzed the source, we could identify around 400 pages in two languages. And to make real use of the new communication site and its webparts, we needed to do manual copy & paste.
Another problem was the usage of variations as communication sites do not support them any longer. Additional customizations such as design solutions using CSS and masterpage (not recommended any more) have been implemented.
The customer decided to drop the design solutions and to work without variations, as he didn't use machine translation and there was always a manual step - so just a little change in the process.
In the same process, we've moved the collaboration sites (team sites) from classic sites to teams. In the first step, users are accessing it through SharePoint, as the layout is pretty much the same like the Intranet.
In this session you'll get insights in this customer project and were 3rd party tools can help or limit you. Finally I explain what "Groupify" and "Teamify" means.
