Nadiyah uses her nickname "Essence," as an author. She is a motivational speaker, facilitator of self-help, and trauma-informed literature. She uses her experience as a community-based nonprofit worker, a social worker, a parent facilitator, a former correctional officer, and a child and family services worker to help people undo the thinking of their past to open new doors to a brighter future. She has over 15 years of experience in the human services field and has experience as an individual and group counselor.

Nadiyah has a B.S. in Human Services from Chestnut Hill College and is currently pursuing her Master's in Theology at Trinity Evangelical University and her MSW at West Chester University. She served as an officer of the court in Philadelphia, PA, working with incarcerated fathers for several years as a correctional officer. Nadiyah is a motivational speaker who assists people in being confident about themselves and their overall abilities using the existential perspective, Satir model, and the Bowen Systems family theory.

Nadiyah addresses the issues that people struggle with within themselves as parents and individuals such as depression, PTSD, Intergenerational patterns, work/life stress, abuse (sexual, mental, physical, verbal), forgiveness, societal judgments, and resilience. She uses her life experiences to give examples of resilience and perseverance to show the ability to be able to create the life that one deserves as portrayed in her literary works, "Layers of a Single Mother...my Past is not my Present," and "Believe in yourself," which can be found on her website www.everythingessencewix.org.

Nadiyah is the Chair of the "Dream IT Be It," program for young women in Philadelphia, PA, for Soroptimist International SI Five Points Magneta where she volunteers to prepare them for college and career readiness.
She is a survivor of domestic violence which was the inspiration for her book production. She writes about her struggles as a single parent and the mistakes and triumphs of parenthood through the experience of Adverse Childhood Experiences from intergenerational patterns, and helps families process the loss of loved ones with her bereavement book "Sister My Sister".

In her workshops, she helps to reframe the thinking of parents and professionals alike to promote happiness, and holistic living mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The workshops consist of a lecture, visual aids, individual/group participation through genogram diagrams, polls, self-reflection, and self-awareness exercises. The takeaways will be parental resources for self-care, management of stress-related issues mental/emotional wellness, an awareness of behavioral patterns in children, and an awareness of intergenerational patterns.

Aces (Adverse Childhood Experiences) How to make them work for good

I use my own experience as a social worker, parent, and author to help parents and professionals understand what adverse childhood experiences are and how they can affect the health, development, and well-being of our children.
Intergenerational patterns will be explored as well as self-accountability, forgiveness, self-awareness, signs of trauma, abuse, neglect, and steps to healing.
The takeaways will consist of ways to cope with the challenges of parenting and methods that can be used to keep the parent centered such as:

How to relate to changing behaviors in our children in various ages and stages.

How to balance work/life stressors while maintaining a healthy home environment.

How to improve self-care to promote healthy mental and emotional health and well-being for self and family.

How to replace negative behaviors from intergenerational trauma with positive healthy behaviors.

Increase of self-awareness and healing.

The target audience is comprised of parents and professionals alike. The workshop duration is 1.5 hours and is comprised of a lecture and interactive format with polls, questions, and individual/cohesive group work.

Overcoming the battle within

I speak about any obstacles that a person has experienced through trauma or stress and how to manage those experiences, grow from them, and preserve over them to live an abundant life. I relate to participants by using my life experiences as a template and a testimony to encourage them to keep striving, keep pushing, keep challenging themselves and don't let anyone stop them from their goals in life despite their circumstances.

Challenge yourself to get to the next level

I speak about striving in one's career to always improve upon the knowledge and wisdom that they have to increase professional skills and opportunities in their lives. The participants are encouraged to take new training courses, go back to further their education, to mentor, volunteer, and move up internally within a company if the opportunity presents itself. I encourage participants to seek mentorship for themselves also so they will always be a student to their craft which will teach humility, empathy, and understanding to maximize their potential as leaders in their field. I encourage attendees to hold themselves accountable for their success. To reflect upon their goals, desires, failures, and successes to increase innovation through renewal of ideas and creativity.

Cultural Competency in the Workplace

This session includes ways for organizations to relate to their diverse employees by bringing awareness to cultural differences in the workplace. I will speak about the characteristics of comprehension with language barriers, behavioral responses, and protecting the overall well-being of employees from underrepresented backgrounds to promote equality, empathy, mental/emotional health, and well-being for all employees.

The takeaways are:

-increased patience, happiness, and equality in the workplace

-The understanding that we have to work together and be patient with each other's progress because comprehension skills may vary due to cultural barriers like language definitions.
