Servant Leadership Gone Too Far

Have you ever contemplated the idéa of too much servant leadership? And what implications does it carry for both the organization and its leaders?
The corporate culture in Northern Europe, particularly in Sweden, is often depicted as conducive to agile practices. With a foundation of empowerment, a low fear of authorities, and an open environment for expressing opinions, the application of Servant Leadership typically aligns well.
However, given the pre-existing culture as a basis, the implementation of servant leadership can at times become overly pronounced, leading to significant negative consequences for both the organization and its leaders. In this presentation, I will share real-life examples of instances where Servant Leadership was taken too far, delve into their impacts, and propose strategies to avert such occurrences.

It's important to note that this phenomenon is not exclusive to Sweden. Excessive servant leadership can manifest in various contexts. It took me some time to comprehend what was transpiring, why it occurred, and what could have been done differently. I aim to share these insights and lessons learned.

How to Align Value Streams, Capabilities, and Customer Journeys for Business Excellence

In a rapidly changing business landscape, organizations are often challenged with balancing agility and robust architectural frameworks. In my talk, I will explore how value streams—key to agile methodologies—and capabilities—foundational to strong architecture—can complement each other to create a dynamic, customer-centric organization.

Starting from the customer's perspective, I will demonstrate how customer journeys should be the compass that guides the alignment of business processes, value streams, and capabilities. By prioritizing customer needs, we ensure that all organizational efforts are grounded in reality, driving genuine value and engagement.

This session will provide practical insights into:

How to map and optimize value streams with a clear focus on customer outcomes.
Leveraging capabilities to support and enhance agile value delivery without compromising long-term strategic goals.
Bridging the gap between customer experience and business efficiency through integrated processes.
Join me to discover how we can transform the way we think about agility and architecture, not as competing forces, but as synergistic elements that, together, empower organizations to be both innovative and resilient.

Intelligent Disobedience

Don't just make friends with your processes – turn them into your best buddies!

In this session, we will explore how to transform business processes into dynamic value streams with end-to-end accountability.

Through real-world examples and actionable strategies, you will learn:

* How to drive end-to-end accountability by building value streams that empower ownership across the organization.
* How to focus on customer value as the foundation for creating effective and impactful value streams.
* How to eliminate inefficiencies by aligning all functions to contribute to a shared value, reducing isolated control mechanisms that slow process flow.

Processes don’t have to be constraints. They can fuel creativity, collaboration, and efficiency when approached with the right mindset.
