Building a frontend platform with Nuxt

At Jumbo Supermarkten, we're building our own frontend platform to facilitate individual scrum teams working independently on the stuff that matters while maintaining a omni channel experience across our landscape.

I Said Yes. What Have I Done?!

Ever embarked on a journey without a map, compass, or even a clear destination? I did, and it was a wild ride. Join me for a talk that delves into my unconventional journey as a developer, where I committed to writing a tech book with little prior knowledge of writing. This is a story of trial by fire, where I had to tackle diverse software projects under the continuous pressure of deadlines.

This started with a simple yes, without realising the implications it would have. Sometimes, diving in the deep end teaches you more about yourself and our software development than your conventional methods. Challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone every now and then to grow!

Great Migrations: Upgrading at Scale

In the wild, creatures migrate in large herds for various reasons. These migrations are not without peril. In this talk, natures' migratory patterns serve as inspiration when applying lessons to our own upgrade and migration paths. I'll be describing processes you can employ in your (mid to large scale) organisation to follow an optimal migration path.

Use case is the way we've upgraded our internal component library on which we build our software at Jumbo Supermarkten. This situation applied to the upgrade that we are conducting on our tech stack based on Vue & Nuxt in a multi application landscape.

Maintaining a component library at scale

At Jumbo Supermarkten we use Vue for our frontend development. To speed up application building, we've created and maintain a component library. Within our frontend chapter, we're making a point of everybody being involved in the maintenance and development of the library. What did we do to facilitate this? And what problems did we need to solve? How is this helping cross domain communications? How are we dealing with the Vue3 update? Come find out!

Navigating Design System Maturity in Tech Organizations

Join us for an insightful and entertaining talk that dives into the world of design systems and their evolution within growing tech organizations. In this session, we'll explore the concept of maturity models and how they can be applied to design systems, offering practical guidance for organizations at different stages of growth.

From fledgling startups to established enterprises, the process of establishing and maintaining a design system can vary significantly. We'll deconstruct the journey into distinct maturity levels, providing you with a roadmap for success. Along the way, we'll share real-world examples, lessons learned, and expert advice on how to adapt your approach to fit your organization's unique culture and needs.

Why is this topic important and relevant? Well, design systems play a pivotal role in modern web development, enabling teams to achieve consistency, scalability, and efficiency. However, implementing and maturing a design system can be a complex undertaking, particularly as organizations evolve and grow. By understanding the different maturity levels and the appropriate processes for each stage, you'll be empowered to make informed decisions, avoid common pitfalls, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. So, join us as we explore the fascinating world of design system maturity and discover how to build bridges that connect your organization's unique culture with effective design system practices. Be ready to laugh, learn, and leave inspired to take your design system journey to new heights!
