What if you could turn years of experience into a product without being a software developer?

In this session, I’ll share how I built PBIX A11y, a free browser-based accessibility checker for Power BI, using design thinking, Microsoft Copilot, and vibe coding in Lovable.

I’ll walk through the journey from identifying a real user problem to defining a solution, translating accessibility knowledge into practical checks, and rapidly building and iterating a working tool.

I’ll also share what worked, and what didn’t, when using AI tools across the build process. Copilot supported me as a thinking partner, helping to brainstorm ideas, refine prompts, and translate accessibility requirements into clearer, more structured logic. Lovable provided the vibe coding environment where the solution was actually built and iterated quickly.

I’ll highlight the importance of human-in-the-loop decision making, especially when AI suggestions exceed real platform constraints.

The Psychology of Data-Driven Decisions: How Framing Shapes Data Stories

Framing has influenced human decision-making long before dashboards, reports, and data visualisation existed.

From Aristotle’s principles of persuasion to the behavioural science experiments of the 1950s–1980s, researchers have shown that the way information is presented can significantly influence how people interpret it, what they believe, and the decisions they make. Today, those same principles are embedded in the language, visuals, and narratives we use to communicate data.

In this session, we explore the evolution of the framing effect and its relevance to modern analytics. Through real-world examples, we'll examine how subtle visual and verbal choices can change the meaning audiences take from data without altering the underlying numbers. We'll also discuss why ethical data storytelling requires transparency about these choices and how framing can either strengthen or undermine trust.

Attendees will learn how to identify invisible nudges in reports and dashboards, and apply framing responsibly to support clearer, more informed decisions.

From Prompt to Published: Building Power BI Reports with AI Agents

AI agents can now take a Power BI report from prompt to published. But “end-to-end” doesn’t mean “error-free.” Each step in the process has its own failure points, and most go unnoticed until the report is already in front of stakeholders.

This session walks through the full build process, from data modelling to DAX to visual design, using AI agents at each stage. For every step, you’ll see the common errors that show up, why they happen, and how to catch and fix them before they reach production.

Expect live demos throughout. You’ll see AI agents generate real report components, and you’ll see what goes wrong when prompts are too vague or validation is skipped.

You’ll leave with a practical checklist for each stage of the process. Not just what AI agents can do, but where they need a human check before you ship.

Accessibility isn’t theoretical for me. After a work injury left me with nerve damage in both hands, a simple hardware adjustment transformed how I could work. That experience reshaped how I see design: accessibility isn’t an optional improvement, it’s what enables participation.

Dashboards are designed to support decision-making, yet many still create confusion instead of clarity. Users question whether they can trust the data, struggle to interpret what they are seeing, or are unintentionally excluded by inaccessible and overly complex designs. When this happens, even technically correct reports can fail to drive meaningful action.

This session explores how a 2,000-year-old framework from Aristotle can help solve these modern data communication challenges through the principles of Ethos (credibility), Logos (logic), and Pathos (emotion).
