A long-time leader in the higher education sustainability community, Julian was one of AASHE’s co-founders and served as Associate Director from 2004 until 2009, when he left to pursue graduate studies. He rejoined AASHE in 2015 as the Director of Programs. In his work with AASHE, Julian played leadership roles in creating the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) as well as the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. Outside of AASHE, Julian served for two years as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Alfred State College and spent another year as Senior Program Manager with GreenerU. Julian has an MBA and an MS in Natural Resources and the Environment from the University of Michigan and a BA in Environmental Studies from Lewis & Clark College.

Akesire Abdurrahmon is a dedicated and ambitious final-year student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), specializing in Applied Geophysics. With a strong passion for geophysical exploration especially in the energy and mineral exploration, he has developed expertise in integrating magnetic, gravity, radiometric and vertical electrical sounding (VES) data for subsurface analysis using software like ArcGIS, Oasis Montaj, WinResist, and most importantly, his knowledge on python in application of Data Science in various Geophysical Investigations. His academic journey has been marked by excellence in research, particularly in the application of geophysical techniques for energy and mineral exploration in Nigeria.

He has actively participated in several fieldwork, geophysical data acquisition, analysis and interpretation, enhancing his practical knowledge in the discipline. His current research focuses on evaluating iron ore deposits in Calabar, Southern Nigeria, analyses of petroleum potential in some selected areas in Ondo State (a potential green field for oil and gas) utilizing geophysical methods to support economic and industrial development. He also has a lined up research work on application of geophysical methods to analyze geothermal potential zones in some selected areas in Nigeria.

Lindsey serves as the Senior Director of the Center for Sustainability at Santa Clara University, where she has been a driving force in advancing the university's sustainability initiatives since 2006. Under her leadership, SCU has achieved significant milestones, including Gold Ratings in AASHE's STARS and recognition in the Princeton Review's Green Honor Roll. Notably, she has spearheaded the development and implementation of the "Sustainable SCU: Leading Through Laudato Si'" strategic action plan, aligning the university's sustainability efforts with Pope Francis' call for integral ecology. Under her guidance, SCU has also made significant strides in renewable energy, including the construction of the Bird Solar Project, which supplies over 6% of the university's electricity needs and generates savings that is reinvested annually to fund additional sustainability projects.

Kalkbrenner holds both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and an MBA from Santa Clara University. A Native Hawaiian and a Kumu Hula, she brings a unique blend of cultural insight and leadership to her role, fostering a campus culture that empowers students to become sustainability change agents.

Alfredo is a sustainability leader and educator with over a decade of experience driving institutional change through strategy, teaching, and engagement. He holds a PhD in Sustainability Education from Prescott College and currently serves as Director of the Sustainability Center at the University of Monterrey, where he leads the university’s sustainability strategy and collaborates across academic, operational, and community spaces to create lasting impact. He also teaches undergraduate courses on environmental impact, energy efficiency, life cycle assessment, and renewable energy systems, and has contributed to international academic collaborations in Europe and Latin America. Lauren is a Sustainability Planning & Policy Specialist at the University of Washington, where she guides governance, facilitates working groups, and shapes long-term sustainability strategy with a focus on cross-campus alignment and community engagement. Lauren also supports DEI and leadership initiatives through the UW Facilities FAIR Coalition. She has prior experience in environmental policy, multi-stakeholder facilitation, and clean-energy and natural-resource program management, and holds a B.S. in Environmental Science, Policy & Management from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Roman P. de Jesus is a Chancellor’s Office Climate Fellow and Chair of Earth Sciences at Fullerton College. He is committed to making climate action and sustainability an opportunity for everyone. As Climate Fellow, Dr. de Jesus is coordinating curriculum efforts enabling faculty across academic disciplines to empower students in climate action and sustainability. At Fullerton College He is the faculty co-chair of the campus Sustainability Committee and has coordinated events across campus including the annual Earth Day Symposium, faculty professional development workshops, and Environmental Scholars webinars.
With more than 15 years in higher education — the last 10 at Fullerton College — he teaches oceanography, Earth Science lecture, lab, and field courses, and co-teaches Geology and Biology of the Channel Islands. Through these courses, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities, he has provided numerous students authentic experiences in the geosciences. Gabrielle leads the analytical initiatives that advance Boston University’s sustainability goals. She is responsible for overseeing data acquisition, assuring data integrity, managing, analyzing, and reporting the multiple elements of the University’s environmental footprint to measure progress toward the goals established in the University’s Climate Action Plan. Gabrielle reports on the University’s greenhouse gas emissions, energy, and water use to the City and State as required through BERDO (Building Energy Reporting and Disclosure Ordinance) and LBER (Large Building Energy Reporting), respectively. She also oversees the collection and analysis of data for BU’s Zero Waste Plan and STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) report.

Gabrielle pursued her undergraduate studies at Bates College, earning her degree in environmental studies and chemistry. At Bates, she worked with the sustainability office to enhance clean energy systems in college facilities, grow student engagement, and produced her thesis on energy efficiency within Lewiston, Maine, affordable housing. Gabrielle continued her education at BU, receiving her Master of Science in Urban Affairs and Graduate Certificate in Applied Sustainability, where she developed skills to navigate the complexities of the urban landscape in addressing environmental challenges.
