Ron is originally from Ottawa, where his family always included dogs, specifically beagles. His father was a field trial judge and CKC representative for Ontario and Quebec. Ron volunteered at field trials and dog shows throughout the area.
He got into equines in his 30s, training and riding Arabian endurance horses.
After moving to BC he volunteered and eventually worked at a heritage town museum in the livestock department. One of his primary responsibilities was caring for and driving teams of Clydesdales, requiring him to obtain his level 2 teamsters certification from Olds College.

Susan Raymond has been involved in the development and delivery, both online and in-person, of educational and skills training programs since 2003 (Equine Guelph). The focus of these programs is to improve the welfare and safety of both animals and people on the farm during day-to-day activities and emergency situations. Susan’s PhD research involved investigating the effects of exposure of horses to mycotoxins, as well as examining stable design and management as they affect air quality. She has completed Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Operations, Rescue Ropes/Rigging courses and Animal Technical Rescue Awareness Level Course (University of Florida). Katie Isselmann DiSantis, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Public Health in Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Population Health. She is the lead instructor for MPH level courses in Research Methods and Capstone, and also teaches a course on health behavior theories. Dr. DiSantis has managed numerous community-based research projects that have identified key influences of childhood obesity status and family food purchases and is a recognized expert in equitable access to healthy food. She has employed quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods in her research. She has published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed public health, medical, and nutrition journals. She is an Associate Director of the Institute for Smart and Healthy Cities, representing the College of Population Health in this interdisciplinary research group. In this role, Dr. DiSantis pursues projects that aim at building equitable food systems in urban settings. Dr. DiSantis was awarded the 2019 Lindback Award for Excellence in Teaching, the 2023 Provost Award for Interdisciplinary Research, and the 2023 Outstanding Teaching award. Ekokotu Prince is a passionate and dynamic geoscientist shaping the future of Nigeria’s petroleum industry. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Integrated Petroleum Exploration and Evaluation Studies at the NNPC/RAEC JV Center of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, University of Benin. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, where his early fascination with Earth sciences evolved into a purposeful career, sparked by attending his first NAPE technical meeting at the Warri Chapter.

Prince gained practical experience as a Mud Logger at Geomatey’s Consult Ltd., where he supported the drilling of four wells through detailed lithology logging and sample analysis, and as a Geoscientist Trainee at the Petroleum Training Institute, Warri, where he worked on drilling mud formulation and rig simulations.

Beyond the field, Prince served as President of the NAPE, AAPG, NMGS, and SEG at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) student chapters (2021–2022), organizing 12 training sessions and 8 conferences that engaged over 300 students. He also coordinated a virtual field trip for SEG Sub-Saharan Africa and currently leads a 21-student cohort at the Center of Excellence, achieving a 95% pass rate through mentorship and academic support.

His undergraduate thesis focused on the statistical and spatial analysis of groundwater in Warri South, reflecting his interest in applying geoscience solutions to real-world environmental challenges.
