Originally from St. Paul, MN, she trained as a chef and began her career in local restaurants before transitioning to healthcare and nutrition, earning her Certified Dietary Manager accreditation.

In 2008, Carrie launched the Farm to School program at Dover-Eyota Public Schools, a small rural district in Olmsted County.
