I also co-founded Tbilisi AI Lab in 2023—a small research team focused on building large language models for Georgian, one of the world’s most under-resourced languages. With a team of just four people, we built everything from scratch: we collected and cleaned 20B tokens for pretraining, 5M instruction pairs, and 0.5M DPO pairs, and trained a 12B parameter model that remains the best-performing LLM for Georgian.
