Beto has been writing open-source software for more than 2 decades, with open-source serving as the unifying theme across their diverse career. This includes their work as a climate scientist with a PhD in oceanography running global simulations for the IPCC, as an instructor and speaker at Facebook/Meta passionate about data tools and best practices, as a software engineer working daily on Apache Superset, and as a musician using open hardware and open-source plugins to compose and produce their songs.

The tools and libraries that Beto has created or worked on are used daily by thousands of companies and countless users, focusing on making data access seamless and switching the spotlight to the user experience instead. Their first big project was Pydap, a server for climate data developed during the Google Summer of Code in 2005. Pydap was used by the IPCC to distribute their simulations when they won their 2007 Nobel Prize, and also by the Danish Navy when removing chemical weapons from Syria.

Since 2017, Beto has been working daily on Apache Superset, a modern and modular business intelligence web application that is the number 1 Apache project in terms of GitHub stars. This work has led to the creation of an ecosystem of products: DataJunction, a semantic layer that has been adopted by data teams at Netflix; Shillelagh, a Python library that makes any kind of data easily queryable via SQL; and Cantrip, a magical semantic layer that lives in the database itself, requiring no additional resources. Dr. Attila Kornel-Markula studierte Philosophie und Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Münster. Neben der Musikästhetik der Stille forscht er u. a. zum transkulturellen Austausch von Klangsynthese im 20./21. Jahrhundert. Als Musiker ist er mit vielfältiger Musikproduktion vertraut.
Von 2017-2020 war er als Studien- und ERASMUS-Koordinator mit einem Lehrauftrag für fachspezifische Analyse an der Musikhochschule Münster tätig. Von 2021 bis 2024 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Vechta (Zentrale Studienberatung) im Projekt ViBeS (Entwicklung innovativer Lehrkonzepte und Selbstlernmaterialien) sowie 2022 Lehrauftrag für Musikwissenschaft.
Von 2024 bis 2025 im International Office der Universität Vechta tätig im Bereich Studienvorbereitung und Studienerfolg (DAAD-Projekt FIT). Seit Juni 2025 Berater für geflüchtete Studieninteressierte und Studierende (International Office Münster)

Human Centered Organisations - Wie muss Arbeitsplatz gestalltet werden, so dass der Mensch mit seinen Anforderungen im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht.
Das sind die Themen, die mich beschäftigen. Die Technologie unterstützt dabei, die eigentliche Herausforderung ist aber der kulturelle Wandel.

As Head of Software at Muse, I oversee and mentor teams responsible for our musical creation products, including MuseScore Studio, Audacity, Audio.com and MuseSounds. My responsibility is to ensure that our products grow to reach new audiences, providing free tools that compete with the best paid offerings on the market. It’s a role that requires a fine balance between big-picture strategic thinking and attention to the intricate details that make each product stand out.

My background is deeply rooted in product design for services used by millions of people. While at Microsoft, I led the design efforts for Paint 3D and applications for the Hololens AR headset. When I joined Muse, I became the product owner for MuseScore Studio, transforming it into the most popular notation application worldwide. I have also been running the popular audio editing application, Audacity for the last three years, focusing on significantly improving its capability and usability to make it a one-stop destination for podcasters and (eventually) musicians too. I am also experienced in effective product marketing and have produced numerous viral videos to promote Muse releases.

Outside of my professional responsibilities, I run a YouTube channel called 'Tantacrul', where I share my thoughts on music, technology, philosophy, and design. This platform allows me to connect with a broader audience, sharing insights and sparking discussions on subjects I'm passionate about. It’s a space where I can blend my personal interests with my professional expertise, engaging with a community that shares my enthusiasm for creativity and innovation.

I have a lot of experience working on open source products and collaborating in open source communities.

I have a degree in design from LSAD in Ireland and a master's degree in music composition from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

At just 20 years old, Dylan brings a powerful first hand perspective on what young people need to feel seen, supported, and heard. As the co-founder of Fourddo (four-dee-do), he and his sister have served thousands by spearheading national initiatives in mental health, activism, and the arts—partnering with organizations like Nike, KIA Motors, Macy's and No Kid Hungry. He is a believer in the power of storytelling as a tool for connection, healing, and change.

Dylan has held several advisory and ambassadorial positions at the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Young Futures Org, Made By Us, Civics Unplugged, Adolescent Content, The Foundation for Social Connection, Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, the United States Tennis Association, the American Philosophical Society, and UNICEF USA. At his alma mater, Emerson College, he advises the President and the Dean on equitable and inclusive solutions for students. His creative pursuits have also recognized him as a Norman Lear and Bruno Mars Fund Scholar. This spring, he was recognized as a Finalist at Sundance and produced a premiere at Tribeca Film Festival.
