Tovah Denaro (she/her) is the founder and lead consultant of IBC. She began this work in 2011, through her own experience in the classroom as a Special Education teacher for youth impacted with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities. Through her years in the classroom, she began to strategically focus her work on supporting youth who are historically marginalized. Specifically, BIPOC youth, youth in Special Education, youth who are or have been incarcerated, and youth that identify within the LGTBQIA+ community. Jason Jones is a full-time disruptor, activist, educator, and software engineer. Jason leads TLM’s conversations with existing and potential partners for TLM’s future with a focus on creating mutually beneficial partnerships that impact TLM’s learners on a high scale. On September 25, 2018, Jason was released after 13 ½ years incarcerated, during which time he graduated from The Last Mile’s inaugural coding class. Three weeks before his release, Jason became the first person from his cohort to sign a work agreement with a tech company as a software engineer. My experience spans over 40 years of teaching. My background is quite diverse
including standard 1st and 3rd grade teaching, small group instruction, Special
education, providing teacher assistance in behavior management and
coordinating Mental Health services for Head Start.
For 5 years I taught in a residential Mental Health facility (specifically in the Crisis
Center) working with children ranging an age from four to eighteen. Having been
removed from their homes due to various crisis situations (neglect, abuse, sexual
abuse, trauma, etc.) they were brought to the Crisis Center or group home.
My responsibilities were for the younger clients' educational needs, developing
IEP's, individual and group instruction and creating , implementing individualized
behavioral plans and working in collaboration with the Social workers,
psychologist and medical staff.
In 1995, I began working as a Special Education Teacher at Camden County OEO
Head Start (Camden NJ) and remained there for 7 years, This included
observation of classrooms, developing IEP's, providing assistance to the teachers
and parents, and trainings for staff and parents, I remained there for 7 years
until relocating in California.
For 2 years I worked for the Clovis Unified School district in their Intervention
class for primary grades, after which I returned to Head Start in Fresno.
Initially I began as a Disabilities Specialist and eventually became the Mental
health Coordinator until my retirement in 2021,

Merav Mofaz is part of the fast-track PhD program for excellent students in Tel Aviv University, conducting a study that deals with continuous monitoring and early detection of health and wellbeing related events using smartphones and smartwatches. Merav is an excellence award-winning lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering. Noreen Naseem Rodríguez is an Associate Professor of Elementary Education and Educational Justice in the Department of Teacher Education and core faculty in the Asian Pacific American Studies and Muslim Studies Programs at Michigan State University. Her current research, funded by the Spencer Foundation, examines the implementation of Asian American Studies in K-12 classrooms across the U.S. She has published over fifty peer-reviewed book chapters and articles in scholarly and practitioner journals such as Harvard Educational Review, Curriculum Inquiry, and Journal of Children's Literature, and is co-author of Social Studies for a Better World: An Anti-Oppressive Approach for Elementary Educators with Katy Swalwell and Teaching Asian America in Elementary Classrooms with Sohyun An and Esther Kim. Blake Haygood started teaching high school math in 2007 and later moved into gifted education. As GT Coordinator for Austin ISD, he focuses on: advocacy for gifted learners, curriculum, family/community outreach, and program development and accountability. Blake volunteers extensively with both the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented and the Profoundly Gifted Retreat—presenting at conferences, supporting committees, and serving on their respective boards.
