Hi, I’m Luis Antonio Morales Segundo, a 28-year-old tech enthusiast with 7 years of experience in the IT world. Even though I’ve mostly worked in consulting, I’m secretly fascinated by the business side of things especially banking. Numbers, processes, models, decisions… I just love how everything fits together.

Throughout my career, I’ve worn many hats: support engineer, developer, solutions architect, and more recently SRE. I’ve done everything from writing service-desk comments to keep an incident alive, all the way to building and deploying resilient, fault-tolerant, high-availability microservice architectures (the kind of stuff I don’t usually brag about outside of job interviews).

I’m an introvert who originally planned to wait another year before trying to join the KCD speakers lineup… but my partner convinced me to go for it now. I’ve been working with Kubernetes for years, and I’ve spent the last 4 diving deep into Istio—only to join companies where I’m told to “just create a VirtualService because that’s the standard.” So here I am, determined to share the real power of Istio with others.

At home, I experiment with a Raspberry Pi lab where I break things (intentionally), fix them (eventually), and play with tools like Istio, Kong, Apigee, and WSO2. These days, I’m exploring AI—not the “wrap ChatGPT in a microservice” kind, but training my own models from scratch on a Kubernetes cluster. Yes, I know there are easier ways… but I like understanding what’s happening underneath the hood.
