Mahfuz continued to demonstrate his storytelling capabilities by publishing his first book, called “Project Reinvention: The Social Timeline of a Millennial”, which shares his personal story of resilience and reinvention, from a coffee server to an award-winning Senior Brand Manager. Last year, he released his newest publication, called “Journey To My Best Self”, to help busy professionals with improving their levels of productivity.

These personal stories and takeaways have also been shared through the 140+ episodes on Mahfuz’s podcast show, called “Ride With Me”. - Leveraging web3 technologies, innovative mindsets, and analytical thinking to drive radically improved end-user experiences. -

- Personal Info and Speaking Role / Topics -

I am a firm believer in offering thought leadership around the benefits of web3 technologies and how it can be used to radically improve end-user experiences, as well as pioneering a wider shift towards true digital ownership and self custody of our digital experiences.

In particular, I focus most of my thought leadership on the ability of gaming to bring the next 1 billion users to web3, and the key ways in which this can be done, namely: a clear focus on gameplay first and providing entertainment value over financial incentives; making the onboarding for players as frictionless as possible; using simple, user friendly concepts that hides the tech behind already established platform native concepts and allows customers to use platforms without fully understanding the technology behind it; creating more sustainable gaming economies and monetisation models which protect the core game loop from on-chain tokens and pay-to-win mechanics.

As well as this, I also like to speak about the power of web3 technologies and digital ownership in a wider context of other use cases beyond gaming, and how this can be done in ways which make progress in the world and provide more inclusive and sustainable global prosperity.

In terms of my personal background, I have completed an MSc with Distinction in Entrepreneurship from UCL, a top 10 global university, I previously founded an e-learning gamification platform before founding Litoja Labs, and also published a dissertation during my undergraduate degree titled 'Keeping Up With Technology” which outlined strategies for society to better keep up with exponential technological innovation in ways that are more aligned with wider societal aims.

I would happy to take speaking roles as part of a panel as well as an individual, and am happy to discuss on a wide range of topics around web3, blockchain, digital ownership, and gaming as outlined above.

I have also attached some examples of my thought leadership tweets/threads on Twitter which outlines some of my thoughts around these topics:

What’s going wrong with Blockchain Gaming? -> https://twitter.com/LiamAradena/status/1522186770863079431

Aradena is a new, unique and strategic game that attracts traditional gamers by combining the addictive game loops of digital trading card games with a visually immersive 3D hex battlefield, where players utilise movement and positioning to engage in tactical battles. We have taken inspiration from other popular games like Hearthstone, Warhammer, Civilisation, and even chess.

Alongside our innovative and refreshing game design, we are also solving clear user pain points through web3 technologies: 1) True game asset ownership, 2) The ability to trade and sell assets for real money, 3) Limited earning opportunities from skill-based LTE tournaments, 4) A real stake in the game economy through on-chain tokens.

We raised a pre-seed equity round led by Animoca Brands last year, and Yat Siu, the chairman of Animoca Brands has previously commented in a public release that “Aradena has strong plans to push the adoption of blockchain gaming by providing players with full digital ownership and a high-quality gaming experience. We are thrilled to support Aradena’s efforts to achieve this goal.”

We have been developing for 14 months since then, and are in Alpha stage of development at the moment and will launch our closed beta in Q1 2023.

Jeremy Georges-Filteau

Jeremy Georges-Filteau

Jeremy obtained a bachelor’s of bioinformatics from Université Laval during which he did an exchange at Université de Strasbourg in the Master’s of Integrative structural biology and bioinformatics and completed an internship at The Hyve developing a user interface prototype for TranSMART. Following this, he completed a Master’s in computer science at McGill University by developing a machine learning algorithm based on phylogenetic networks that has significant advantages over commonly used genetic assignment methods. Jeremy joined The Hyve in 2018 to pursue a PhD within the context of the AiPBAND project and, more generally, his passion for multidisciplinary science.

The aim of this ESR project is to develop a big-data powered diagnostic infrastructure for brain cancer prediction. The platform will be deployed and run on cloud services . The platform will include a data warehouse for integrating clinical and omics data. This includes data generated by innovative biosensors, developed by WP2. The components of the platform will be designed as flexible microservices. Separation of concerns will facilitate high performance, security and scalability. One of these services will be the prediction algorithms, developed in close collaboration with ESR-11 at IC. Patients, clinician and potential industrial client will gain access via any device to their results on an intuitive user interface.

To achieve these goals, large quantities of health data is required at every step. For both simpy software testing or improving machine learning accuracy, quality data remains hard to get. The scientific opportunities locked-in the massive amounts of health data collected are inestimable. The growing concerns towards data privacy will only only complicate the issue.

Anonymization is generally employed to prevent misuse of private data. Anonymization trades data utility for privacy, but does not fully prevent reidentification. This means accessing data requires eminent academic credentials and resources. If real data is lacking for developments, delays and errors can have consequences on critical health informatics. The alternative is to produce synthetic data, thereby avoiding the privacy issues. Rigid and error prone statistical models have long been the only generative algorithms for this purpose.

Recently, generative adversarial networks have demonstrated their ability to produce indistinguishable synthetic data. Synthetic data has been gaining traction rapidly in medical imaging applications. However, due to certain complexities of observational health, the idea is only starting to gain interest. This project will explore GAN methods to produce synthetic health data that address these complexities. In addition to evaluating they gains provided to the development of the diagnostic platform.
