Dr. Gerzina is the Sr. Executive Director, Wasson Center for Clinical Skills Training, Assessment, and Scholarship and Interprofessional Education Services (IPES) at NEOMED. Dr. Gerzina earned an MEd in Evaluation and Measurement and a PhD in Health Education and Promotion with a focus on mental health promotion and resilience in health and human service professionals from Kent State University. She began her medical education career as a site trainer for the NBME Step 2 Clinical Skills test in the early 1990’s, completed simulation training at Harvard’s Center for Medical Simulation in 2004, earned her AAMC Medical Education Research Certificate at the University of Miami 2008, earned her TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer certificate in 2014, and has been a certified healthcare simulation educator (CHSE) since 2018.
At NEOMED, Dr. Gerzina also serves as an Associate Professor of Family & Community Medicine and Associate Professor of Psychiatry. She has over 25 years of experience with medical and health professions curriculum including application of standardized/simulated patient/participant (SP) methodology as well as formative, summative, and high-stakes performance-based assessment. In addition to her extensive experience building and operating education and training centers for UGME, GME, and Interprofessional Education, she formerly served as the Executive Director, Office of Continuing Professional Education. She has collaborated on numerous grants to design curriculum and assessment via SP Methodology to train health care and human service teams individually and for collaborative care, especially as this relates to integrated primary care and mental health.
Nationally, she has served on the executive board of the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) and most recently served as the Vice President, Operations. Having served as the Chair, Standards of Practice, ASPE, Dr. Gerzina represented ASPE at monthly collaborative workshops with INACSL and SSH on Standards, Core Competencies and Best Practices in Healthcare Simulation. She has authored multiple publications in her areas of expertise as well as chapters related to safe work environments and application of ASPE SOBP. Dr. Daniels-Osaze is the Associate Dean for Education and a Clinical Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She specializes in developing pathway programs that diversify the health professions and focus on the reduction of health disparities in health care. Dr. Daniels-Osaze has a successful track record of receiving extramural grants which have generated $12.6 million in total revenue for SUNY Downstate. She is the contact PI for the Downstate Public Health Scholarship Program (DPHSP) and the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) and the Co-PI for the Downstate Center of Excellence for Diversity and Equity in Medicine sponsored by the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA). She is also the contact PI for the Downstate Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) sponsored by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

Dr. Daniels-Osaze earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in Linguistics and Cognitive Studies, her Master of Arts degree from New York University in Higher Education Administration, a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management, and her Doctor of Education from Northeastern University. Dr. Daniels-Osaze is also a proud alumna of the MPH program at SUNY Downstate and a Lenard and Christine Szarek fellowship recipient. Her interest is in Health Policy and Management with a particular focus on health equity, leadership and administration of public health systems.
