Purview as a Game: Building Visible Data Trust with Levels, Badges, and Story

Data governance has a "worst" reputation. It feels like friction, control, and paperwork.

People hear “Purview” and think, here we go again.

And then the same things happen every time. Data is hard to find, nobody trusts it, and sharing becomes a risk game.

This session is a two speaker battle.

Engin is the Purview and governance pro. He says, “Governance must be strict, or it will fail in real projects.”

Sandra is the game designer. She fires back, “Strict rules do not change behavior. Progress does.”

“Badges are useless if people can cheat.” conters Engin, but Sandra answers, “Then we design anti gaming rules, and we reward maturity, not activity.”

Together we turn Purview into a progression system that teams actually want to finish. We show how to run Purview with clear levels, badges, and a story that makes the rules feel like a mission, not a lecture.

Level 1 makes data findable. Level 2 makes it trustable with clear ownership and sensitivity labels. Level 3 makes it traceable with lineage and impact. Level 4 makes it compliant with policies and access reviews that work in real projects.

Every level includes concrete Purview actions, role based responsibilities, and rewards that reflect real governance maturity, not busy work.

You will learn how to make progress visible, how to keep the system fair, and how to move governance from policy into daily behavior. This is not gamification for entertainment. It is a practical way to make Purview feel like progress, not punishment.

Stop the Pilot Graveyard: Adoption and Governance as a Playbook for Fabric

Microsoft Fabric governance often lives in documents, presentations and some policies, but rarely shows up in daily behavior.

At the same time, adoption programs track usage numbers without linking them to quality, architecture or accountability.

What if governance and adoption were not theoretical, but something teams can practice every week?

In this session, we combine a Governance Card Game with a Fabric Adoption Quest System to create a practical, interactive framework for scaling Microsoft Fabric responsibly.

Using role based Governance Cards and measurable Quest Cards, we will show how to:

1. Define clear ownership across BI, Data Engineering, and DBA roles
2. Turn architectural standards into concrete missions
3. Reward real platform maturity instead of superficial activity
4. Build anti gaming safeguards that protect quality
5. Connect adoption metrics with governance guardrails

and at least make progress visible using signals from Fabric and Microsoft 365

This is not gamification for "entertainment". It is a structured system that makes governance tangible and adoption measurable.

Our Attendees will leave our session with a reusable card based framework to move Fabric governance from policy into practice, and adoption from experimentation into sustained maturity.

From Not Technical Enough to Building with Confidence GitHub Copilot as a Pair Programmer

Many people do not start coding because they believe they must know everything first. This level 100 session shows a simple and safe way to start building with GitHub Copilot as a pair programmer. It is designed for beginners, first time contributors, and people who can read code but rarely write it. The focus is not on jargon or deep dives. The focus is on a clear workflow that helps move from an idea to a small piece of working code with confidence.

In a live demo, the session turns one well written issue into a reviewable pull request. It starts with a small scope and clear acceptance criteria. Copilot is then used to propose a plan and suggest code step by step. The workflow stays safe through small commits, basic tests, CI checks, and a short review checklist, so code is not merged blindly.

Attendees will leave with a beginner friendly starter kit that can be used the next day. It includes an issue template, a simple prompt pattern for planning and coding, and a pull request review checklist for quality and control.

No previous Copilot experience required. Basic GitHub knowledge is helpful but not required.

Building Power Apps like Duolingo: Make Adoption Stick with Game UX Patterns

Most Power Apps fail for one simple reason: They feel like forms.
Not like products people want to come back to.
This session focuses on Canvas Apps and shows how to steal proven UX and UI patterns from game inspired apps like Duolingo and apply them to business apps in a professional way.
The session introduces an engagement toolkit that can be used in real projects. It covers progression systems, clear goals, feedback loops, micro rewards, streak mechanics and simple UI patterns that reduce friction while increasing motivation.
Each pattern is translated into concrete Canvas app design decisions. What to show. When to show it. How to guide users. How to make success visible. Concrete examples and clear do and dont guidance help to avoid common mistakes, so the app feels useful and enjoyable, not like a toy.

Attendees will leave with a practical pattern library for Canvas Apps that includes progress, feedback, rewards, quests, streaks, and social proof. They will also learn UI tactics to reduce drop offs through microcopy, visual hierarchy, empty states, and nudges. Finally, the session explains what gamification can achieve in business apps, what often backfires, and how to keep it professional.

Cake as a Service - oder wie man Azure Cloud Modelle spielerisch lernt

Build Fast - Fail Faster - Why AI Agents (Still) Don’t Work

AI agents are hyped as the next revolution in the digital workplace. They promise automated support, contextual help, and real relief for IT departments. But in real-world business, most projects fail, because of tech limitations, but because of organizational reality.

This session iwill tell the story of a future that fails in the present. I’ll share why AI agents still don’t work in companies and which uncomfortable truths we need to face if we want to change that.

This is not a tool walkthrough. This is a reality check:
Why RAG is not enough
Why UX determines trust
Why leadership beats technology
Why we must lead agents instead of just building them

You’ll leave with actionable insights to transform failure into momentum, for companies that really want to make AI agents work.

I promise: this session is uncomfortable. But necessary.

Play or Pass? A Gamification Reality Check for Microsoft 365 Adoption

We’ve all seen it: a new Microsoft 365 rollout, and suddenly everything gets likes, badges, “fun” posts and challenges. Teams, SharePoint, Viva Engage, intranet, learning portals : a bit of glitter everywhere.

And after a few weeks? People are back to their old habits.

In this session, we ask the honest question: where do playful, game-inspired ideas really help and where do they just add noise?

We come at this from two different angles: one of us works with a game design mindset, thinking in quests, progress and rewards, the other spends her time designing Microsoft 365 spaces, content and routines that people can actually live with day to day.

In the first part, we deep-dive into 5 key scenarios. The audience plays along in a live poll: for each scenario you vote “Play or Pass?”, see the results on screen, and then we quickly debate two angles:

which game-inspired mechanics could help or hurt, and

how to design the Microsoft 365 experience itself (channels, pages, flows, messages) so it supports real behaviour change.

In a fast lightning round, we run through additional 5 scenarios to reveal broader patterns: which types of M365 experiences are almost always a good fit for playful elements – and which should stay clean, simple and purely functional.

You leave with a set of design patterns for M365 adoption – where playful elements make sense, where they don’t, and how to use Microsoft 365 creatively (without gimmicks) to help people actually change the way they work.

Lead with Experiences, not with Agents: How User Adoption beats “Agent Hype”

Everyone is talking about agents right now. Like they will fix everything.
And yes, building an agent is getting easier and easier and makes a lot of fun for us techies.

But that’s not the real challenge.

The real challenge is simple: people don’t use it.
Or they try it once, get confused or annoyed, and go back to their old way of working.

In this session, I’m not here to sell more agent features.
I want to inspire leaders to think differently: to design for the human who has to work with it every day.
Less focus on what the agent can do, more focus on what the user experiences: clarity, control, and real productivity. If an agent “can do more” but creates more chaos, more questions, more uncertainty, or more clicks… that’s not productivity.

That’s just another tool that adds noise.

I will show you a simple framework leaders can use to shift from “agent features” to “human outcomes”: agents that support real work, build trust, and stay under human control (undo, transparency, clear limits).

Stop the Scroll of Doom: 10 Game UI Tricks for Canvas Apps – and Better Vibe/Code App Prompts

This talk is not about AI and not about fancy design. It’s about one very normal problem: Power Apps that are hard to use.

Many Canvas Apps (and also Vibe Apps / Code Apps) end up as one long screen with many buttons. People scroll, search, get tired, and stop using the app. The logic is fine, but the UI is heavy.

In this session, we show 10 very simple UI tricks we know from games: clear paths, small chunks, visible progress, little feedback after each action. We use them on Canvas Apps with modern controls and show short before/after examples.

If you also use Vibe Apps or Code Apps, we briefly show how to describe these ideas in a simple way, so the generated apps don’t become “scroll of doom” again.

No big theory, no AI deep dive, no pixel-perfect design lesson – just small patterns you can try in your next app.

Stop the Scroll of Doom: 10 Game inspired UI Tricks in Power Apps

Stop the Scroll of Doom isn’t about fancy visuals. It’s about one thing: making Power Apps feel obvious to use.

Many business apps don’t fail because they are broken. They fail because they are tiring. One endless screen. Too many buttons. No clear “where am I”, no progress, no feedback, weired error messages. Users scroll, guess, hesitate, and then… they just stop using the app and find ways arround.

Games handle complexity differently. They guide players with clear objectives, simple navigation, visible progress, and tiny feedback moments that build trust. And the best part: you can use the same tricks in Power Apps without turning your app into a toy.

In this session, i will give you 10 practical game UI tricks to upgrade your Power Apps UX, focused on:

Clear navigation (so users never feel lost)
Progress and save points (so tasks feel finishable)
Micro feedback (so every click feels reliable)

Expect short “before vs after” examples, a simple checklist you can reuse, and concrete ideas you can apply immediately in your next app. You will leave with patterns that make your apps feel calmer, faster, and more “finished” and that’s what drives real adoption.

Quest Mode: Design & Build a Gamified Onboarding Agent with Microsoft 365 Copilot + Power Platform

Most organisations already have onboarding content. Some also tried chatbots or simple agents for new employees. But often the experiences feels flat and boring. It is hard to find the right content. And many people stop using it very quickly.

This Full-day tutorial includes hands-on labs. You will design and prototype a Gamified Onboarding Agent that fits a real Microsoft 365 environment and onboarding reality. You will learn how to translate an onboarding journey into a storyline, quests, XPs and feedback loops and how to implement the agent backbone and a lightweight “quest layer” using Microsoft 365, Copilot and the Power Platform. Where possible, you also get a community starter kit with templates, canvases and sample assets. We will share it openly after the event so you can reuse and adapt the approach after the conference.

In the morning we start from your reality. We look at typical current onboarding journeys, your content, and the tools you already use in Microsoft 365. We map pain points and opportunities. Then we use game thinking to shape the "players journey" into quests, xp and achievements. Together we define player roles, core loops, rewards and progression for the first weeks of a new employee.

In the afternoon we move into the build mode. You will sketch the agent experience and implement a working prototype using Teams, Copilot, Power Apps and Power Platform building blocks. You will create the data structure and basic flows, then add a gamified experience layer. This will be a simple Onboarding Quest canvas app in a game inspired style to track progress, achievements and connect back to the agent.

By the end of the day you will have a tangible prototype or a high fidelity concept, depending from where you start. You will also have a repeatable framework you can use for other scenarios. And you will have a shared language to work better together across business, IT and User experience design.

Press Start: Designing Gamified Power Apps That People Love

Let’s press Start and build something fun. In this interactive session, we’ll explore the core ideas behind gamification - motivation, feedback loops, and rewards—then immediately put them into practice by creating a gamified Power App live. The audience will help shape the rules, challenges, and mechanics in real time. You’ll leave with practical patterns you can reuse, a better understanding of when gamification works (and when it doesn’t), and proof that Power Apps can be playful and productive.

Heist Mode: Stealing Game UX Patterns for Better Power Apps

Most internal apps focus on “getting the job done.” Games focus on making the next step obvious, progress visible, and feedback rewarding. The good news: those patterns work incredibly well for business apps too.

In this session, i will introduce a working set of game UX patterns that drive adoptionby clear objectives (“quest thinking”), strong feedback states, visible progress, and controlled variety to reduce repetition. For each pattern, i will show a quick before/after example. Then we will build live a small prototype for one of these pattern in Power Apps to show what it takes to translate these ideas into real app behavior and UI—practical, maker-friendly, and immediately reusable.

Expect a session that is equal parts inspiration and implementation: you will leave with patterns you can apply the same day across Microsoft 365 solutions and Power Platform experiences.

Pixel, Purpose, Power: Minecraft as a Playground for Real Teamwork

Minecraft is a game. But at the same time, it’s one hell of a mirror for team behavior.

In this session, I’ll show how you can use Minecraft to create real team challenges in the context of Modern Work and why our brains are wired to love these game mechanics.

Together, we’ll take a look behind the scenes:

What happens in our brains when teams play?

How can gamification principles like feedback loops, reward systems, and progression be harnessed for team growth?

Which challenge formats work best, from scavenger hunts to adventure scenarios to capture-the-flag?

And of course:

How to put all of this into practice in Minecraft, without needing a massive dev team but with Fun and Learnings.

This session is an invitation to rethink teamwork in a playful, powerful way.

Let’s Get You on Stage (Women Edition)

From “I’m Not Technical Enough” to Building with Confidence: GitHub Copilot as my Pair Programmer

GitHub Copilot is no longer just this autocomplete tool. In 2026, I use it like a pair programmer: I describe the task, Copilot suggests the code, and I stay in control with reviews and quality checks.

I’m not a classic developer and that’s why I’m giving this session. Many people (especially women) feel they need to “know everything first” before they can start coding. I want to change that. This is a Level 100 session: no deep dive, no jargon, no showing off.

Just a clear path to start building through exploring and trying things out. With guardrails that keep you safe.

In a live demo, I will show a simple workflow where GitHub Copilot acts as my pair programmer: we turn one clear issue into a reviewable pull request. We start with small scope and acceptance criteria, ask Copilot for a plan, make small commits, add tests, and use CI checks and a review checklist so we do not merge blindly.

You will leave with a beginner-friendly starter kit, and you can use next day: an issue template, a simple prompt pattern, and a PR review checklist.

Building Power Apps like Duolingo: Drive Adoption with Game UX Patterns

Most Power Apps fail for one simple reason: they feel like forms. not like products people want to return to.

In this session, we’ll borrow proven UX/UI patterns from gaming and consumer apps like Duolingo to turn “one-and-done” Power Apps into experiences that users actually enjoy using.
You’ll learn a practical engagement toolkit: progression systems, clear goals, feedback loops, micro-rewards, streak mechanics, onboarding quests, and UI patterns that reduce friction while increasing motivation. We’ll translate these patterns into real Power Apps design decisions—what to show, when to show it, how to guide users, and how to make success feel visible.
Expect concrete examples, do’s & don’ts, and a “pattern library” you can apply immediately—without turning your business app into a toy.

Takeaways
A Gaming UX Pattern Library for Power Apps (Progress, Feedback, Rewards, Quests, Streaks, Social Proof)
UI tactics to reduce drop-offs: microcopy, visual hierarchy, empty states, and nudges
Gamification done right: what works, what backfires, and how to keep it professional

Sustainable Change Management needs Virtual Serious Games

Getting a grip on change with a Virtual Serious Game Change Management. That is our objective. We have developed and deployed a number of games that can be used for different change challenges. These change management games are used in our projects as well as in our change seminars to illustrate theoretical learning through practical exercises in a game. Our platform for this is AltspaceVR and we exploit this collaborative platform in all aspects.

We will be happy to show you how this works live and in colour. Nothing is easier than understanding through play. Nothing is more sustainable.

Game on: How Brands entered the Metaverse in a playful way

Many different companies are asking us what exactly the metaverse can do for their learning experience or their brands or what their brands can do in the metaverse.
These new, immersive, virtual environments have the potential to provide a fresh approach to staying relevant to existing customers while attracting new ones and learn and adopt new technologies and topics.
One of the most basic ways that brands can get started in the metaverse is by taking full advantage of gaming platforms, like Minecraft, Roblox or Fortnite, which offers fully realized immersive experiences few others can provide right now.
Companies like spotify, Netflix, Nike and Walmart have partnered with Roblox, others like Burberry are using Minecraft as a branding experience.
The power of these branded experiences lies in how little these have to do with what the company does in real life. Yet, because of the game-like nature of these interactive experiences, Gen Z and also GenA is firmly aligning itself with many of them. The overall intention behind these gamified experiences is to generate buzz and recognition and engender themselves as early adopters in the metaverse.

So why do companies choose these gaming platforms as their metaverse presence. Why don't they use other "mature" technologies. Why do they rely on gaming instead of VR. with our impulse we want to give an overview of why these well-known game platforms are so well suited to pave the way for big brands to enter the metaverse. We want to answer these and many other questions, give you how tos to start and advice, what to use to start.
