Justin started his career early on using a Tandy TRS-80. From there, he learnt how to use an Apple IIc and began tracking down Carmen Sandiego no matter where she was hiding, be it in the USA, Europe, the World or even in Time. He then helped teach his high school computer class and quickly found he had knack for talking tech in an understandable way.

He graduated from Purdue with a BS in Computer Technology and a minor in Elementary Education and quickly put that to work by helping design one of the first online learning systems...a collaborative venture between Purdue, Tilburg University and ESC Rouen in France. After that stabilized, he was the lead consultant for Altiris EMEA. After Altiris was bought by Symantec, he became "The IT Dude" on Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, specializing in anything that dealt with computing, be it Microsoft, Unix, Cisco or even just telephony in general.

He returned to the USA in 2010 and started his own company and consulted with companies like Microsoft, Liz Claiborne and Disney just to name a few. He received the coveted Microsoft MVP award numerous times as well as was an MCT before being hired at Microsoft to help run Internal Learning platform for 3 years. He left Microsoft in 2014 and focused on grass roots and people skills and became a comedian making “fun” presentations about the City of Seattle and its history.

As well as doing informative presentations, he was in charge of the Technical Infrastructure at a company that provided data services to Walmart. In 1993, David joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Novell Server Administrator for Administrative Data Processing. Over the years, he proved himself as a leader, ultimately assuming the position of Assistant Dean for Information Technology and HIPAA Security Officer for the UNC Adams School of Dentistry from 2011 to 2022. David's dedication to the University and his management of information technology professionals since 1996 are testaments to his exceptional leadership and loyalty.

Education lies at the core of David's personal journey, and his academic achievements speak volumes about his commitment to excellence. A graduate of Hampton University with a bachelor's degree in Mass Media Arts, David legitimized his technical expertise by obtaining a master's degree in Computer Networking and a Post Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance from East Carolina University. Not stopping there, he solidified his position by earning a Certified Government Chief Information Officer certificate from the UNC School of Government.

In 2022, David added two prestigious and highly respected certifications to his repertoire: the Certified Information Systems Security Professional from ISC2 and the Certified Information Security Manager from ISACA.

David's passion for continuous learning and dedication to professional associations have solidified his status as a leader.
