These early influences encouraged him to develop habits that supported personal growth and service. Bishop Elias continued his education at a Catholic college, where he completed a degree in philosophy before entering a Benedictine monastery to begin religious life. When he professed vows in the mid-1980s, he embraced the rhythm of prayer, work, and community that shapes monastic living. He was later ordained a priest, taking on responsibilities that required thoughtful attention to both spiritual and practical needs. Lorenzo began his ministry as a teacher at a secondary school connected to his monastery.
