After a master degree in particle physics I questioned myself about computer science in physics and made a second master in computer science about distributed and cooperative systems.

I then made a PhD. at CEA on supercomputer memory managment optimizations followed by a post-doc at the Exascale Computing Research Lab (CEA, Intel, Uvsq, Genci). I finally made a 3 years post-doc at CERN on project in collaboration with Intel about furture Lhcb data aquisition system using Infiniband or Omni-Path.

I'm now at Bull/Echirolles in the R&D service on studies and developpement about IO burst buffer and profiling tool in a Scrum team.

Sarah Kaiser

Sarah Kaiser

Dr. Sarah Kaiser has spent much of her career developing new quantum hardware in the lab, from satellites to hacking quantum cryptography hardware. Communicating what is so exciting about quantum is her passion, and she loves finding new demos and tools to help enable the quantum community to grow. When not at the keyboard she loves kayaking, hanging out at Seattle tech meetups, and writing books about engineering for kids. Just like the electromagnetic spectrum, she believes there is room for everyone to learn quantum and become a quantum programmer!

I am a medical microbiologist and infectious disease physician by training. After completing my PhD in 2019, I was awarded the IMPRINT post-Doctoral fellowship, which I held for two years. Following that, I transitioned to my current position as a Tenure Track Fellow at the University of Liverpool.
My research primarily focuses on investigating the host response during infections and understanding the mechanisms of protection, with a special emphasis on major neonatal pathogens such as Streptococcus agalactiae (commonly known as Group B Streptococcus or GBS), Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). I aim to comprehend how bacterial and viral coinfections modulate the disease course in humans and affect the microbial ecosystem in both health and disease. Additionally, my research extends to understanding the immune response against these pathogens following natural infection or immunisation, leading to the discovery of correlates of protection for vaccines.

I first became interested in group B streptococcus research when I observed an increase in streptococcus bacteria in vaginal smear slides of pregnant women compared to nonpregnant women in a study I worked on as a research assistant. This observation led me to do a study on the rectovaginal prevalence of GBS in our population, an area that had received little focus. This study was part of my MSc studies at the University of Nairobi. After my master's studies, I took a Ph.D. fellowship in infectious diseases and global health at the University of Manitoba. As part of this, I followed up on my Msc study by conducting a study on the vertical transmission of GBS in our population. This study is ongoing and the results will be out in 2024. To advance my research skills, I have taken courses in research management, conducting research, and project management. I also work as a laboratory coordinator in multisite clinical trials. My interest in GBS led to join the Young ISSAD committee to promote GBS research and raise awareness of the same.

Chanda Williams

Chanda Williams

Chanda Williams, MA, C-IAYT, RYT E-500, has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in integrative health. Chanda is a TRIM predoctoral fellow and doctoral candidate in somatic depth psychology. She is conducting a qualitative, post-hoc study that seeks to increase the understanding and explore the long-term impact of trauma-informed, mindfulness-based yoga therapy for incarcerated populations. Additionally, Chanda is collaborating with UCSF faculty to examine the current uptake and acceptability of integrative oncology practices and complementary therapies (e.g., diet, exercise, yoga, and supplements) among Black individuals with cancer.

The primary focus of Chanda’s research interest lies in the field of integrative health and health disparities research, specifically the evaluation of the clinical effectiveness and psychophysiological mechanisms underlying the practice of yoga and meditation for marginalized, underserved, and under-resourced populations. These behavioral techniques include breathing exercises, physical postures, and mindfulness meditation. These practices are known to produce a coordinated psychophysiological response that has been called the relaxation response, which is associated with a reduction in psychophysiological arousal and a sense of well-being. These techniques are effective for many disorders with a psychosomatic component exacerbated by stress.
