Dr. Daniels-Osaze is the Associate Dean for Education and a Clinical Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She specializes in developing pathway programs that diversify the health professions and focus on the reduction of health disparities in health care. Dr. Daniels-Osaze has a successful track record of receiving extramural grants which have generated $12.6 million in total revenue for SUNY Downstate. She is the contact PI for the Downstate Public Health Scholarship Program (DPHSP) and the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) and the Co-PI for the Downstate Center of Excellence for Diversity and Equity in Medicine sponsored by the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA). She is also the contact PI for the Downstate Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) sponsored by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

Dr. Daniels-Osaze earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in Linguistics and Cognitive Studies, her Master of Arts degree from New York University in Higher Education Administration, a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management, and her Doctor of Education from Northeastern University. Dr. Daniels-Osaze is also a proud alumna of the MPH program at SUNY Downstate and a Lenard and Christine Szarek fellowship recipient. Her interest is in Health Policy and Management with a particular focus on health equity, leadership and administration of public health systems.

As Associate Dean for Education, her role is to facilitate all curriculum development and modifications, accreditation activities, program evaluation and quality improvement. Dr. Daniels-Osaze is the former president of the National Association of Medical Minority Educators (NAMME), an organization dedicated to improving the overall health status of racial and ethnic populations. Cathy J. Schlund-Vials is the Iris Howard Regents Professor in English Literature at the University of Texas, Austin. Prior to this academic appointment, Schlund-Vials was Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor in English and Asian/Asian American Studies at the University of Connecticut. She is a past president of the Association for Asian American Studies (2016-2018) and recently completed her tenure as the president of the American Studies Association (2021-2022).

In addition to numerous book chapters and articles, Cathy has edited and co-edited a number of collections, including Keywords for Asian American Studies (NYU Press 2015), Asian America: A Primary Source Reader (Yale UP 2016), Flashpoints for Asian American Studies (Fordham UP 2017), and The Subject(s) of Human Rights (Temple UP 2019).
