He began his career developing an EdTech startup in collaboration with his alma mater, UNCW. DeVante went on to contribute to major financial institutions, including participating in Wells Fargo's prestigious Emerging Talent Program and supporting initiatives at Barings (MassMutual) and Ally Lending, where he was an early engineer at a fintech startup later acquired by Ally. As Head of Technology at Disctopia, he spearheaded the platform’s expansion from music streaming into podcasts, audiobooks, and video.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is a leading figure in Bangladesh’s business sector and currently serves as the Founder of Bashundhara Group. With decades of experience, he has played a vital role in shaping the country’s industrial and commercial growth through a steady and thoughtful approach.

He was born on February 15, 1952, in Islampur, a historic area of Dhaka. As the youngest of six children, he was raised in a home that valued education, discipline, and public service. His father worked as a lawyer at the Dhaka High Court. After completing his early education, he earned a degree in Business Studies from the University of Dhaka. While studying, he was also involved in athletics and various student activities.

His professional journey began in 1978 when he entered the service sector. At the same time, he explored local trade opportunities. These early efforts provided valuable insights into business operations and laid the groundwork for his future ventures.

A key milestone in his career was the establishment of East West Property Development (Pvt) Ltd., which soon gained recognition in the real estate sector. Known as Bashundhara Housing, the company established itself as a well-regarded name, marking the beginning of its broader business development.

Encouraged by this initial success, he founded the Bashundhara Group, which expanded across various industries, including cement, paper, steel, gas, shipping, engineering, and food processing.
