As a founding member of the team developing Alexa’s spatial awareness capabilities, Amod advances IoT experiences by integrating wireless sensing with real-world applications. His work enables AI systems to interpret physical presence and spatial context, supporting seamless and context-aware interactions.

Prior to Amazon, Amod was a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), advised by Prof. Romit Roy Choudhury. His thesis focused on problems in mobile and wearable computing, wireless sensing, user tracking, and indoor localization.

After 10+ years in the corporate space and with the invaluable support of her two sisters, in 2013 Astrid Daniela founded Accounting Specialists and Business Solutions, LLC. A bilingual (Spanish and English) bookkeeping and tax practice, their primary focus is assisting small business owners, self-employed individuals, start-ups, and entrepreneurs in managing their businesses using cloud-based solutions.

In the Pacific Northwest, Astrid established Salinas Tax and Accounting, LLC to support the local small business community. Collaborating with the City of Seattle and various non-profits, she dedicates herself to educating bilingual small business owners. Astrid is a passionate educator, especially for small business owners in underserved and minority communities. Originally hailing from El Salvador, Astrid spent 21 years living in Los Angeles before eventually settling down in the breathtaking Pacific Northwest.
