Rocco DeLorenzo

Rocco DeLorenzo

Rocco DeLorenzo's academic and extracurricular experiences at Cornell University perfectly encapsulated the essence of interdisciplinary education, combining rigorous study in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. He pursued dual majors in Food Science, with an emphasis on business applications, and Applied Economics and Management, focusing on strategic approaches to food industry management. This dual focus crafted a foundation that prepared him to address complex challenges in the food industry with innovative solutions.

During his tenure at Cornell, Rocco took on pivotal leadership roles in the Chi Psi Fraternity, serving as both Risk Manager and Academic Chair. These roles were instrumental in fostering a safer and more academically oriented community environment. His efforts in these positions significantly improved the overall safety protocols and educational resources within the fraternity, setting a higher standard for member engagement and responsibility.

As VP of Membership and Alumni Development on the Cornell Interfraternity Council (IFC) Executive Board, Rocco spearheaded initiatives that left a lasting impact on the fraternity community at large. He was particularly effective in implementing a comprehensive Hazing Prevention Training program that was rolled out across the fraternity chapters, markedly improving the safety culture within these organizations.

Rocco's capacity for leadership was further demonstrated in his response to a critical incident involving a drug overdose in the fraternity community. He swiftly organized Narcan Training for all fraternity members, significantly enhancing the emergency preparedness of the community and contributing to a safer campus environment.

When faced with challenges relating to sexual misconduct within the fraternity system, Rocco took decisive action by leading the development of a Sexual Violence Prevention plan. This included a temporary suspension of fraternity social activities and spearheaded a series of interventions aimed at creating a safer, more respectful community ethos.

In addition to his fraternity involvement, Rocco excelled in his role as Vice President of Finance for the Cornell Student Assembly, where he managed the complexities of student activity fees. He introduced the innovative "Student Activity Fee Price Index," which provided a data-driven approach to fee adjustments, ensuring fair and sustainable financial practices that aligned with the economic realities faced by students.

Rocco also participated in the Food Marketing Fellows honors program, which allowed him to deepen his engagement with the global food industry through interactions with key industry leaders. His internships at renowned companies like Giovanni Foods, Mondelēz International, and Restaurant Brands International afforded him practical experiences where he applied his academic learning to real-world challenges, enhancing his expertise in quality control, ingredient technology, and operational management.

Rocco's achievements were recognized through multiple awards during his time at Cornell, highlighting his leadership, academic excellence, and community service. Before his collegiate success, he was a proactive leader at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York, where his involvement in sports and student governance laid the groundwork for his future accomplishments.

Rocco DeLorenzo's journey through Cornell University exemplifies how a blend of academic rigor and proactive leadership can prepare a student to make substantial contributions to their field. His unique approach to integrating technical knowledge with strategic business insights sets him apart as a future leader in the food industry.

Bringing people together is something that lives on through my workshops and training. Whether they take place online or on-premise, I facilitate workshops and learning experiences that focus on high participation, on learning by doing and verifying that the concepts are integrated. I use Live Online Learning Activities to ensure people get a chance to practice their understanding of the new concepts.

What better way is there to give meaning to what we say than to draw to make our thoughts explicit? When we add visual information to what we’re saying, suddenly our intention becomes much more precise, and we can begin to work on shared understanding. This is why I love bringing people in contact with the power of Visual Thinking, of getting back to our roots and using pen and paper to bring people closer together.

Stories are another option for bringing sensitive topics to the surface, which I recently started to explore through my self-development practice, as well as during numerous Around the world in (less than) 80 days workshops throughout the past years!

Peter Laughter

Peter Laughter

Hello there! I'm Peter Laughter, and 12 years ago, an experience transformed my understanding of leadership and set me on a path to fulfill my purpose. I realized that the best solutions come from those closest to the problem, not from the top down. This led me to embrace distributed decision-making, empowering individuals to help organizations become more agile and resilient in today’s rapidly changing landscape.

My purpose is to reveal the profound bonds that connect all humanity, making them visible and tangible in our daily lives. To thrive amid exponential change, organizations must shift from command-and-control to a network system of distributed authority. The traditional command-and-control orthodoxy is as harmful for corporate leaders as it is for employees, stifling innovation and engagement. Through my speaking and consulting, I guide organizations in building dynamic methods for fostering this new approach.

With over 25 years in the recruiting and staffing industry, I've founded three successful firms, served elite consultancies and banks, and pioneered the first SaaS platform for managing enterprise labor programs. My work has earned prestigious awards, including the Inc 500.

I'm a TEDx speaker on Radical Empathy and a three-time Moth Story Slam winner, with a story featured on The Moth Podcast. These experiences reflect my passion for storytelling and my ability to connect deeply with audiences.

When I'm not transforming the business world, you'll find me exploring trails on my bicycle, lost in a book, or sharing stories. And yes, I love a good laugh – after all, it’s in my name! Most of all, I love riding the Cyclone with my daughter Eddy.
