In 2022, he started his journey at ULM, taking advantage of the NCAA Redshirt rule to extend his eligibility for four full college football seasons. This strategic decision is set to maximize his athletic development and academic growth during his tenure at the university. His college life is rigorously structured, balancing challenging academic courses with a comprehensive football training regimen, ensuring he is well-prepared for college's intellectual and physical challenges.

After a rejuvenating winter break with his family in Cabo San Lucas, he returned to ULM on January 11 to continue his academic and athletic commitments. The spring semester's schedule includes intensive coursework and a series of football training sessions that began in March 2023. These sessions are crucial for preparing him for the upcoming competitive season in the fall.

The similarities between Chapin, South Carolina, and Monroe, Louisiana, facilitated his transition, making it easier for him to adapt to his new environment. He quickly embraced northeast Louisiana's southern culture and humid climate, feeling at home in his new setting.

Outside of his academic and football activities, he explores the local offerings of northeast Louisiana. He enjoys engaging in various outdoor activities, tasting the local cuisine, and taking advantage of the recreational opportunities in Monroe and West Monroe. The convenience of Monroe's airport also simplifies his trips back to Chapin, allowing him to maintain close ties with his family and hometown.

David Bennett is deeply engaged in community service, actively participating in initiatives that support local senior centers and special needs sports programs. These activities help him connect with the community and enrich his personal and professional development.

During high school, he was actively involved in student government and earned multiple accolades for his sports and leadership abilities, including the High School Sports Award for 2020. These recognitions underscore his versatile talents and leadership qualities.
