With more than 20 years of experience building enterprise software, Don specializes in distributed systems, API integrations, and modern development workflows that help teams ship reliable software faster.

Throughout his career, Don has led engineering teams responsible for complex integrations between transportation management systems, telematics providers, and cloud platforms. His work focuses on scalable architecture, event driven systems, and practical ways developers can use emerging technologies like AI to improve productivity and code quality.

Don is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Toledo, where he teaches courses in object oriented programming and software engineering. I'm Ashok, a Cloud platform engineer at GPR, a robotics/ autonomous vehicle positioning company. I'm building our cloud platform end to end: networks, clusters, pipelines, databases, and the tooling that holds them together, with AI coding agents as my only teammates.

Here's what I find remarkable: a few years ago, what I'm doing would have been impossible for a single engineer. Modern infrastructure tooling and AI pair-programming have quietly moved that line, and I don't think our industry has absorbed yet what that means for team size, cost, and who gets to build platforms at all.

We are actively working on shipping this to production in coming months.  The next biggest challenge we are eager to solve and that in itself could be second half of the story: one engineer can now build a platform, but how does one engineer operate it at scale?
