Dr. Arzumanian is the long-time Director of the USC College Advising Corps for the Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice (CERPP) at the USC Rossier School of Education. For twenty years he has been a youth worker in the areas of mentoring, college access, after school, juvenile justice and street outreach. At USC, he has overseen the growth of the program to directly serve over 10,000 students annually in multiple school districts across Los Angeles county. In its ten years of existence, USC CAC has directly assisted over 70,000 students to enroll in college. During that time Ara earned his doctorate in higher education administration from the Rossier School of Education, earned the staff recognition award “for creating a culture of community,” was a fellow of the Los Angeles Scholars Investment Fund Young Men of Color 2019, and was awarded USC’s Order of Arete medal for excellence in leadership and community service.

Prior to joining CERPP, Ara oversaw three youth programs and the development of a new mentoring program in Boyle Heights. Previous to that experience, he was the Vice President of Programs for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles overseeing several programs and managing mentoring for over 1,500 matches. He developed a new corporate partnership model with Union Bank winning the National Rising Star Award. Before joining Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ara had been tapped by the international non-profit, Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), to direct the Generation Next Mentorship Program (GenNext). As the director of GenNext, Ara assembled the team that grew the program five times in size and increased its services to students with the award of a prestigious US Department of Education Grant. During his tenure at GenNext, Ara served as the chair of the Glendale Healthy Start Collaborative and sat on Glendale Unified School District’s Student Attendance Review Board and the violence prevention committees of five schools. It was his experience as a youth outreach worker with the City of Glendale’s Youth Outreach Program that brought Ara to AGBU’s attention. He was a member of the three-person team that developed it from the ground up, providing intensive case management to students facing high risk factors. Specializing in violence intervention/prevention, direct street outreach, runaway recovery and cross-cultural peace-making, Ara and the team worked with over 1,800 students in five years. Dr. Kimberly Giardina is the director for the Child and Family Well-Being department with the Health and Human Services Agency. She has been in the field of child welfare for 23 years and has a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Master of Social Work from San Diego State University. Dr. Giardina has consulted on child welfare issues at the national, state, and local levels. She led the implementation of multiple innovative initiatives in CWS including the Title IV-E Waiver and San Diego’s practice framework, Safety Enhanced Together. She has also participated on multiple Agency wide initiatives including the development of the Future Generations Council, the Trauma Informed Systems Integration Team, and the Strong Families, Thriving Communities coalition that focused on reducing disproportionality and disparities for children/youth involved with the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. During her four years as the Child Welfare Director, Dr. Giardina has lead major systems change efforts with the completion of the 88 Working Group recommendations that were adopted by the Board of Supervisors. Dr. Diane Jackson Schnoor earned her M.T. and PhD in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She founded a preschool built on the idea that all children were natural scientists and explorers (and that picture books could connect all of the thematic units). While working in the museum education field, she developed and provided in-person and virtual hands-on STEAM programs that inspired curiosity and wonder in children of all ages. She currently works with teachers across the country, focusing on connecting multicultural literature with engaging and meaningful STEAM challenges. She currently collaborates with Chris Kesler Science on early elementary curriculum design and worked closely with Steve Spangler Inc. on the production and release of a Beyond Ever After on demand video course. Melissa Eggleston serves as a user experience researcher and designer for the Digital Service at the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare. Her specialty is applying trauma-informed principles to the design process and products. For more than 15 years, she has improved the user experience of websites, apps, and software for organizations of all sizes, including Lenovo, Duke University, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Teamworks, and many others. In 2023 she won the Service to the Citizen Customer Experience Trailblazer Award for her work on 988 (the U.S. suicide hotline) and related websites. In 2017 she won the Aquent Design for Good grant to apply trauma-informed principles to a domestic violence agency website.

She has helped design specifically for people who have experienced interpersonal violence, human trafficking, substance use disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal ideation, and serious mental illness. In 2009, Melissa received her MA in Communication from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she has taught UX design since 2019. At North Carolina State University now, Melissa is pursuing a doctorate in design, studying the intersection of technology and trauma.

For over three decades, Sonia Williams-Lewis has been on a mission of re-imagining equity and humanity, intending to reclaim all of the things lost and denied to the Black community by way of laws, policies, and cultural norms that intentionally and unintentionally perpetuate white supremacy, racism, and implicit biases. Her professional career has prompted efforts to address the issue of racialized norms, as a matter of curating a safe and brave space to have courageous conversations about race and belonging whilst normalizing an anti-racist, humanity-driven future. As the Founder/CEO of ASCRIBE Educational Consulting, LLC and EDIFIY Humanity 501c3, our work is rooted in challenging the norm and fostering a growth mindset where everyone matters and wins.

Sonia Williams-Lewis is a former high school/secondary educator, with degrees in History and Psychology from Spelman College, as well as a Master's Degree in Education and Secondary Teaching credential from San Francisco State University. Building the legacy of ASCRIBE and EDIFY prioritizes the marrying of equity and social justice, with an emphasis on how socio-economic factors impact family dynamics, community stratification, and the marginalized outcomes of vulnerable groups. If we focus on the margins of the margins, the result is our whole society reaping benefits that really matter. It's the development of our whole selves coupled with the development of our whole community that fosters a willingness to address all of our needs and not the deficit of what we can't accomplish together. It was after giving birth to 6 beautiful Black boys, that Sonia realized her lived experiences offer a unique perspective on tackling the problems associated with equity, belonging, and humanity, like but not limited to denied medical resources, lack of access to educational resources, unwarranted touches with the criminal justice system based on racialized norms and policies, and inner-communal violence. Said lived experiences, also known as "adverse childhood experiences" (ACEs) have not only led to a reliance on the resource-richness and resolve of the Black community but also how the Black community contributes to the whole of who we are as a society. Let's imagine together, a future where the next generation won't need to deal with or heal from racialized trauma....PERIOD.
