My thing is figuring out how things work.

I started out with language and machines: linguistics, speech and natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and software development.
These days, my interests have shifted towards evolutionary biology and paleontology.

In my spare time, I play and compose music.
I also have a perfectly reasonable fascination with dinosaurs and an entirely unreasonable love of platypuses.
I don’t look up that often, but when I do, it's usually at the stars.

Shantanu Seth

Shantanu Seth

I am a distinguished data science leader. I currently serve as Senior Director at Axtria Inc., where I lead the company’s decision science business across the Midwest and West Coast. I manage a five million dollar portfolio and guide a team of high performing data scientists who build advanced analytics and AI solutions for global biopharmaceutical clients. My work focuses on transforming commercial decision making, improving patient outcomes, and institutionalizing data driven strategies across large enterprises.

At Axtria, I have led several pioneering analytics initiatives. I developed a patient journey map for a cardiomyopathy therapy by analyzing more than fifty thousand EMR and claims records. This work uncovered diagnostic delays, identified adherence gaps, and enabled targeted interventions that improved therapy initiation by fifteen percent and adherence by twenty percent. For a leading HIV drug, I designed and implemented advanced multi touch attribution models that quantified the influence of interactions across HCPs, pharmacies, and digital channels, enabling more precise promotional decision making. I also built a comprehensive omnichannel orchestration strategy for a cancer drug, aligning marketing, medical, and compliance functions to deliver synchronized and compliant outreach. In addition, my work in econometric modeling for a CNS drug delivered a ten percent uplift in total sales through optimized budget allocation and a clear understanding of channel effectiveness.

My thought leadership has been featured at leading international conferences. I have delivered keynote addresses at the IEEE International Conference on Communication, Computer Sciences and Engineering and have been invited to speak at the IEEE International Conference on Contemporary Computing and Communications. My talk titled Leveraging Data Science for Transformative Healthcare Outcomes received significant engagement for its practical approach to integrating predictive analytics into healthcare ecosystem design. I have also contributed multiple scholarly works to international journals and IEEE venues, including Leveraging Statistical Programming for Adaptive Clinical Trial Designs at ICCSCM, Innovations in Multi Touch Attribution Models at the IEEE ESCI Conference, and Revolutionizing Customer Experience Through NLP and Sentiment Analysis Strategies at the IEEE CICTN Conference.

Across my career, I have been driven by a consistent mission to unlock measurable value through data. I have mentored and developed high performing analytics teams, scaled global capabilities, and advised senior leaders across healthcare, life sciences, insurance, retail, and manufacturing. My work stands at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and technology, ensuring that organizations can translate complex data into decisions that elevate outcomes for patients, customers, and businesses.

I have a proven track record of building, scaling, and elevating high-performing analytics and data science teams across multiple geographies. Throughout my leadership roles at Axtria, TheMathCompany, and Mu Sigma, I have hired and developed dozens of data scientists, analysts, and decision science professionals—creating strong talent pipelines, capability-building frameworks, and onboarding programs that accelerate both readiness and long-term success. I am deeply committed to coaching and mentoring, providing structured career development, real-time feedback, and hands-on guidance that helps my teams grow into strategic, client-facing leaders. My leadership style blends technical depth with people-focused mentorship, enabling me to build teams known for analytical rigor, commercial impact, and exceptional professional growth.

I continue to anchor my work in innovation, academic rigor, and a commitment to improving healthcare systems through the power of data science and artificial intelligence. My journey reflects a belief that the right analytical models, when combined with the right strategic intent, can meaningfully improve lives at scale.
