Rebecca’s passion for mindful leadership blossomed in Fall 2019 while working on wellness initiatives and learning about mindful leadership practices at the Office of School Health in NYC. Dr. Arkene Levy is an Associate Professor of Medical Education and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD). She completed her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at The University of the West Indies in Jamaica and post-doctoral studies at Moore’s Cancer at the University of California San Diego. Her research interests currently include health disparities and DEI curricular innovation. Through collaboration with the South Florida community, she is passionate about promoting health equity and maintaining an inclusive and equitable college climate at NSU MD. Her recent book “cases in DEI for the health professions educator” highlights strategies for integrating DEI into health professions education.
Her currently funded projects totaling 2 million dollars include A Florida Blue Foundation grant for opioid abuse prevention awareness in at-risk youth in South Florida and a Health Foundation of South Florida grant aimed at advancing equitable access to health and well-being. Dr Levy is also a two-time recipient of the IAMSE curricular innovation grant, the first (2020) focused on building an LGBTQ Proficiency curriculum for medical students and the most recent (2022) focuses on developing a toolkit for mitigating the imposter phenomenon in diverse medical student populations. Shashank Shekhar is a machine learning engineer and researcher. He is the co-founder of Dice Health, a startup dedicated to developing automation tools for healthcare providers, aimed at accelerating the delivery of care. Dice Health is currently a part of the Next AI 2024 incubator cohort.

Prior to founding Dice Health, Shashank worked at Meta AI Research pursuing research on scaling laws, self-supervised computer vision, and foundation models. Before that, he was at the Vector Institute doing research on explainable AI, visual reasoning, and dynamic neural networks. Dr. Urvashi Vaid is an associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine who is passionate about the education of future physicians on the continuum from medical school to fellowship. Her focus is on undergraduate medical education, medical education research focused on uncertainty and learning in the clinical environment, pulmonary physiology, and critical care medicine.
She was an integral part of the curricular transformation at SKMC- moving from a siloed traditional Flexnerian curriculum to a fully integrated system-based curriculum and now directs the Preclinical Phase of medical school (Phase 1) while simultaneously attending in the medical ICU.

Megan Shen is a social psychologist and an Associate Professor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. She received her PhD from Baylor University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and faculty appointment at the Center for Research on End-of-Life Care at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. She is a leading expert on death, dying, and grief and with that hope, resilience, and coping. She has expertise in health communication and decision-making, looking at how our cultural and social environments influence how we interpret information and make decisions. Much of her research focuses on understanding and developing tools to support patients and families in making informed healthcare decisions at the end of life and coping with advanced illness. Central to her work is understanding how to find resilience, hope, and meaning in the face of challenging realities.

Dr. Shen has received multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her innovative work on supporting patients facing terminal illness, and she has consulted for Fortune 100 companies and industry leaders.
