With 25 years of experience in education, she brings practitioner-grounded expertise to her teaching and scholarship, drawing on prior roles a Special Education Director, Special Education Coordinator, Behavior Specialist, Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI), and as a K–12 classroom special education teacher. Dr. Gibson's research examines the experiences of students with visual impairments and albinism, twice-exceptional learners, behavioral interventions, and transition services for students with exceptionalities. She has authored peer-reviewed scholarship on the views and experiences of secondary students with albinism and maintains an active research agenda.
