Bishop Elias continued his education at a Catholic college, where he completed a degree in philosophy before entering a Benedictine monastery to begin religious life. He began college in New Orleans, where he took part in community programs that mentored young boys who had lost their fathers. He later transferred and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Law in December 2017.

His legal experience began before law school, working as a paralegal at a business immigration firm and interning at the New York County Supreme Court. These early roles gave him exposure to litigation and court operations. In law school, he participated in the mediation clinic, resolving civil and small claims matters, and served as an Associate Editor for a legal journal. He also interned at organizations focused on legal aid and defense.

After passing the New York Bar in 2021, Ethan worked in law firms handling labor law, negligence defense, and insurance litigation.
