I have worked in the social service sector for 11 years and have worked directly with underserved families/ clients for the past 6 years. During this time I have excelled in cultivating healthy and nurturing relationships with families. Working in the social service sector I have learned the importance of engaging with families, being aware of their traumas as well as how to support families throughout the Pandemic. In 2016 I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Families Studies. I also became certified as a Nonprofit Professional through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Throughout my educational journey spanning over 12 years, I've dedicated myself to nurturing success both academically and socially for the staff and students I've had the privilege to work with. This commitment has been at the core of my professional character, driving me to continually evolve and grow, both personally and professionally.

My teaching experience in 4th and 5th grade classrooms has provided me with invaluable insights into the diverse needs of students and the complexities of classroom dynamics. Additionally, my roles as a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) coach, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) coach, and member of various leadership teams have equipped me with the tools to cultivate inclusive environments and foster holistic student development.

Over the years, I've also taken on leadership responsibilities, serving as a member of the leadership team for over seven years, coaching Collaborative Learning and Reflective Practice (CLR), supervising Behavioral Response Teams (BRTs), and providing support to students in need. These experiences have honed my leadership skills and deepened my understanding of the multifaceted challenges faced by educators and students alike.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, I've pursued higher education to further equip myself for leadership roles in education. I've earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and an ED.S in Educational Leadership, accompanied by a K-12 Administration License, with the aim of expanding my impact and effecting positive change at a systemic level.

Patricia (Tish) Jennings is an internationally recognized leader in the fields of social and emotional learning and mindfulness in education and Professor of Education at the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia. Her research places a specific emphasis on teacher stress and how it impacts the social and emotional context of the classroom, as articulated in her highly cited theoretical article "The Prosocial Classroom." Jennings led the team that developed CARE, a mindfulness-based professional development program shown to significantly improve teacher well-being, classroom interactions and student engagement in the largest randomized controlled trial of a mindfulness-based intervention designed specifically to address teacher occupational stress. She is a co-author of Flourish: The Compassionate Schools Project curriculum, an integrated health and physical education program and is co-Investigator on a large randomized controlled trial to evaluate the curriculum’s efficacy. She is currently the Principal Investigator of Project CATALYZE, a study that will examine whether CARE enhances the effectiveness of a social and emotional learning curriculum funded by an Education Innovation Research grant from the US Department of Education to conduct. A member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Fostering Healthy Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral Development among Children and Youth, she was awarded the Cathy Kerr Award for Courageous and Compassionate Science by the Mind & Life Institute in 2018 and recently recognized by Mindful Magazine as one of "Ten Mindfulness Researchers You Should Know." Earlier in her career, Jennings spent more than 22 years as a teacher, school director and teacher educator. Currently Emma works with public sector organisations to focus on improving outcomes for the people they support. For over 10 years she has worked with local authorities across the UK in adults and children’s services, as well as working with NHS organisations, schools, private providers, and voluntary sector organisations.
