Dr. Gillian L. Galford directs the Certificate and UVM’s Geospatial Technologies program. She teaches in UVM’s Environmental Science Program/Rubenstein School of Environment and is a Fellow at the Gund Institute for Environment. Her research focuses on land-cover and land-use change in the tropics and its impacts, particularly on greenhouse gas emissions and the water cycle. She works across scales, from plot level studies on farms to regional analyses through remote sensing and ecosystems modeling. Strong partnerships and collaborations are a hallmark of Gillian’s work. Her colleagues represent universities in the USA, Brazil and Cuba, NGOs, international research organizations and government institutions. Graham Erwin, Ph.D., is a Stanford Cancer Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University. He is a molecular, chemical and genome biologist elucidating the functional role of repetitive, so-called "junk" DNA sequences. This work is guiding the design of new therapeutics and diagnostics for human disease.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a co-inventor of synthetic transcription factors to treat devastating neurodegenerative diseases. The resulting patents formed the basis of Design Therapeutics (San Diego, California).

He joined EMC as a vSpecialist in Presales, aligned between EMC, VMware & Pivotal. His role has transformed into a Cloud Platforms Specialist at Dell Technologies with tight alignment to Pivotal. He interfaced with customers to help guide them in executing and accelerating their transformation efforts on Pivotal Cloud Foundry as it was getting to market. He worked with customers to define their strategic initiatives and focused on translating their defined outcomes into technology solutions with objectives to monitor, measure & meter progress.

In 2018 he joined Red Hat as a Sales Specialist for OpenShift. He’s now an ISV Partner Alliance Manager for Red Hat and has a portfolio of strategically managed Partners in the Storage and Data Analytics EcoSystem. He works with these Partners to go to market with a joint value proposition for solutions that are purpose built to provide Data Modernization for an Open Hybrid Cloud and Cloud-Native Workloads.

Since he came from this background and has lived through what customers are going through, he sees that IT Organizations must transform themselves, as well, to maintain a competitive advantage. The topic of DevOps has matured and gained traction over the years, he realized that it is not new. The concepts, methods, philosophies, strategies & tooling are evolving and maturing. DevOps is a journey, and it’s not the same for every organization. He believes innovation is derived from having cross-functional teams aligned to defined business outcomes. Jehnae Jasmine Linkins is a lifetime resident of Indian Head, MD. She is a graduate of the first Historically Black College/University (HBCU), The Lincoln University; with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park.

An active volunteer in her school and community for many years, Jehnae believes of the importance of giving back and making a difference in the world around her. Through many of life’s challenges that she herself has experienced; she has found great comfort in advocating for Girls in STEM; her passion for education has parlayed her into volunteering for many educational focused programs that serve to empower young women in pursuing their educational endeavors. Within her community, Jehnae organized the first organ tissue donor drive at The Lincoln University, through Be The Match Bone Marrow Donation Program. She currently serves as the Co-advisor for the College of Southern Maryland’s Engineering club as well as Chapter Advisor for National Society of Black Engineers Jr chapter. In addition, she instructs the Engineer like a girl program. Jehnae volunteers with local Girl Scout Troops for girls to obtain their STEM Badges. Serves as President of University of Maryland’s Black Graduate Student Union that focuses on growth, development and advocating for educational success of minority students. She is an active member of the Southern Maryland Chain Chapter, The Links Incorporated.

In her Spare time, Jehnae sings in her church gospel choir, a member of the First State Symphonic Band where she plays drums in the percussion section, tutors’ students in physics and math, and mentors’ young women who are interested in STEM fields. Overall, Jehnae hopes to be a part of the movement to increase the number women in male dominated stem fields.

Louis Berman is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded four different technology firms and was employed as a CTO at GiftCertificates.com and Kideo.com. He presently serves as a Cloud Solutions Architect (CSA) at Microsoft. Scott Hawley

Dr. Scott Hawley is a computational physicist who, after several years as a postdoctoral researcher in the High Performance Computing community modeling black hole collisions, came to Nashville in 2006 to teach and play music on the side. His primary role of physics professor to Audio Engineering students led him to develop interactive web and mobile apps for illustrating electronics concepts and measuring acoustical phenomena. Several years ago, while speaking at the Audio Engineering Society conference, he met the CTO of one of the first A.I.-audio-plugin companies. Such was the beginning of catching the "machine learning bug," which led him to oversee multiple machine learning projects at the intersection of physics, music and signal processing. Dr. Hawley has been a finalist for the Les Paul Music Innovation Award, a two-time finalist for international AIGrant.org competitions, an invited speaker at DevFest Nashville and the Circuit Benders Ball, and a regular contributor to the Nashville Music Programmers meetup. He has served as President of the Music City Chapter of the Acoustical Society in America, a post he stepped down from in 2017 to found the community organization ASPIRE Research Co-op - "A loose collective of scientists, engineers, artists and developers who collaborate in bringing their innovative audio & acoustics ideas to life."
